Star Wars 7 Deleted Scene Reveals New Information About Maz Kanata [SPOILERS]

Since its release, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been revealed to have many scenes that didn't make it into the final cut. One of those scenes reveals more about the space smuggler Maz Kanata who may be more powerful than we possibly imagined.

In an interview with Collider, SFX supervisor Chris Corbould said that a particular scene he was sad to see go involved the characters fleeing underneath the castle to escape the stormtrooper assault. Maz uses her powers to collapse the ceiling, preventing the soldiers from following. It was known from the movie that Maz is force-sensitive, but to what extent we were not shown.

"From my point of view, [that] worked absolutely brilliantly because you had all the main actors running up and then Maz does her bit and then the whole ceiling collapses in front of them," Corbould said. "That was a shot I was quite proud of, actually, it worked really, really well."

Other deleted scenes from The Force Awakens include a snowspeeder chase, more aerial dogfighting, and Kylo Ren stepping on to the Millenium Falcon.

JJ Abrams confirmed there will be no extended edition of Episode VII, though fans can expect to see deleted scenes when it comes to home video.
