Splinter Cell: Blacklist coming to Wii U?

Multiple employee resumes suggest Ubisoft action game coming to Nintendo's latest home console.

by

Sam Fisher may be sneaking onto the Wii U. Multiple Ubisoft developer resumes (via GoNintendo) indicate Splinter Cell: Blacklist is in development for Nintendo's latest home console.

Blacklist was announced during the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo only for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

A Ubisoft representative was not immediately available to comment.

Blacklist was recently delayed to August 20 after being originally planned to launch this spring.

Development on the game is being led by Ubisoft Toronto, with Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Shanghai assisting. For more, check out GameSpot's latest preview of Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

I think people are expecting PS4 and next xbox to be a lot better then they are going to be and frankly i think most will be disspointed in next gen at a graphics stand point.  Nothing PS4 showed off looked impressive, Killzone 4 looked better then Killzone 3 but nothing mind blowing it looked like Crysis 3 to me or battlefield 3 on High settings, considering the PS4 cant even push the computing power of a 200$ ATI graphics card kind of says something, plus its going to take a lot of power to run games at 1080p 60fps so honestly games will look over better it wont be anything like what PS3 and 360 looked like when we went from SD to HD not for awhile anyway.  Anyways I dont know why so many are bashing Nintendo, they make good games and they try to be different what is wrong with that?  I love my Wii u and i am excited for what nintendo can do with the system, isnt that what being a gamer is all about? playing games and having fun? There is no reason to freaking bash the systems, be glad we still have games to play and good designers to make games we need to support these companies not  hope they burn cause that just hurts the core of gaming imo and well I would hate to see Angry Birds as the type of hardcore games we will get in the future...

Cool. It will be interesting to see how they put the LCD to use in this game.

Prepare for frame rate issues,inferior graphics, and most likely no future DLC.

Why is it whenever Nintendo is involved, a bunch of "hardcore gamers" suddenly forget everything about the gaming industry and the history of it?

@valcrist09 either You are too young or too confused my dear friend, and regrets Of purchasing a wii u are hunting you, next gen will be great and you will be desperate to take your nintendo garbage somewhere else, dont make stupid remarks just to hide your sorrow. Embrace technology as it is, something you dont know because you own an obsolte Hardware.

@desert_thief Next-gen: The 8th generation of video game consoles, includes Wii U, PS4 and the Next Xbox. Handhelds include 3DS and PS Vita. That is my definition of next-gen.

@abHS4L88 Because "having a history" has no meaning in this industry.It does not matter if Nintendo was "great" 20 years ago and that you have nostalgia. Nintendo has to be great right now to matter, and frankly, Nintendo is not great. The only thing it shines in right now is making the same Mario and Zelda games over and over again.

It would be best for everyone if Nintendo stopped doing hardware and concentrated only on creating games.

@abHS4L88 Because Ninty went from the best gaming company to a rather mediocre one, they always seem to be one generation behind, doesn´t follows standards (Internet? Ninty discovered Internet on 2006) and they are always one (or even two) steps behind from the industry, thanks to that, we'll never see the latest coolest games on a Nintendo console. Gamer network? Nintendo just discovered it with the WiiU.

The only good thing from Ninty since SNES is the 3DS.

@abHS4L88 Good question.  Whenever I hear Nintendo, it takes me back to the NES days, and I'm thinking about the original Legend of Zelda and Metroid games.

And then I think of Super Mario Bros 3, and playing through the game in one epic soda and chips-fueled gaming session on a lazy Saturday.

Ah, nostalgia!

@danpando Blops2 on PS3 looks so much worse and I don't know why.
I am always playing it on the WiiU. I hope Treyarch makes a graphically impressive shooter next time on the WiiU.

@danpando I own all those consoles as well and you are absolutely correct, the wii u version of COD BO2 looks and runs way better. plus, we haven't see any directx11 games on the console yet but we know it's supported. the wii u tears through current gen games like this one no problem and I think the system has a lot more to come.

@HWGuy14 wii u is not a fail...just go back to the ps3 launch,, half of the games sucked..by the way i have all the consoles and the wii u that i just got two days ago, looks better ,like black ops 2 looks better on the wiiu

@franizarduy woot more dicks that dont back there comments with anything other then just wanting to be a nintendo bashing ass hole. Na I think you are probably the blind one thinking Next gen means more power well get yourself a fing PC if you want that.  I dont regret getting the Wii u i enjoy it, its a change of pace from other games and my GF and I enjoy it simple as that.  I didnt buy it for fing power moron, I have a really Nice PC that covered my power and with more and more games adopting the PC i find there less of a reason to even get a console but the wii u brings us change in gameplay which is what i want.  And if i dont know hardware well go check out the ATI cards around 250$ and then check out Amds confirmed PS4 specs will be nice to know PS4 has about a mid Range video card in it and by release it will be low end just like every console gen but hey at leased there is more power in ps4 so when games get moved over to PC they will look even better.

Next-gen (in video gaming) is a term that can be called to video game console or software that makes a significant impact on how the player experience gaming. For instance, PS3 and Xbox 360 introduced High-Definition gaming experience, while Wii has introduced motion-sense controlling using controllers wildly known as Wii Remote, and those are parts of the 7th Generation of video gaming.

Nintendo has started the next generation (8th generation) with its 3DS, the first gaming handheld console to feature 3D stereoscopic gaming without requiring 3D glasses. Sony has also followed up with Playstation Vita (formerly known as Next-Generation Portable), which is considered as the first gaming handheld console to feature graphics that matchs the previous gen PS3. Nintendo's home console Wii U, is the first Nintendo entry in HD, and it's the first gaming home console to feature two-screen play. Sony's Playstation 4 is the first gaming home console to have PC architecture for simple-cost effective game development. Xbox's successor is rumored to have PC architecture, same as PS4.

Sometimes Next-gen is not always be determined by which has better visuals, it is determined which feature makes the changes so significant that a player can call this game or console a next-gen.

@petsodon @abHS4L88 Are you saying that based on a 3 months old system or you're also another one of those guys who hate the original Wii?

abHS4L88
abHS4L88

@petsodon @abHS4L88

That's not what I was talking about. I was talking about how history has proven time and time again that the power of a system does not determine which system is the best, which many have already concluded about the PS4 just because it has better tech than the Wii U. Or how most consoles usually don't launch with a great line up of games (last system I remember launching with an excellent line up was the Dreamcast). And how it takes about a year for a console to really take off (PS3 took 2 years) and finally how the console's launch games are never an indicator of the system's true power.

Also that's your opinion of Nintendo and clearly you don't pay attention to them if you think they're doing is the same Mario and Zelda over and over again. It would not be best for ANYONE if they stopped making hardware because for one, their finances would take a heavy hit (unlike the others, most of their profits come from hardware sales), the quality of their games would take a dive (due to lack of being able to develop for their own system) and quite frankly, a lot of their franchises would die out (you'd be surprised how much power being a 1st party game gives many titles).

So never mind the fact that Nintendo just released the best rated handheld game on the market right now, Fire Emblem Awakening, and how the same studio is now collaborating with Atlus to do a crossover title for the Wii U, and how they're gearing up for the grand return of Pikmin, publishing several 3rd party games as well as helping with development of some of them (like Bayonetta 2). Or how about that brand new IP that Miyamoto's working on that should be revealed at E3? Yeah, unlike you, I pay attention to what everyone's doing so I don't come off as an ignoramus.

@grbolivar Always one generation behind? N64 and GameCube were both more powerful than Sony's offerings at the time, and not by a little bit either.

abHS4L88
abHS4L88

@grbolivar

Mediocre? Oh I get it, because they don't do what "everyone else is doing" it automatically means they're mediocre. Yes, they're always one or two steps behind the industry, which is why the other industry giants like Sony and Microsoft tend to look towards Nintendo for inspiration, because that's where successful companies look to find inspiration right? They look at companies who are "always behind the competition." Makes sense I guess.

Lol, the "latest coolest games?" You mean, the latest hyper realistic cinematic action shooter? No thanks, I'll take the more creative looking titles coming to the Wii U over those any day. Just discovered? Sure they finally created one but it's not like they weren't aware of it years back. At least they took it a step further and integrated a social network for all Wii U (and in the future 3DS) owners.

Also at the end of the day, it's all about the games and Nintendo consistently delivers on that whether you like their games or not.

@PixelAddict @abHS4L88

Lol, I was doing a bit of generalization but when I like to refer to the haters as "the hardcore gamers" since apparently being a hardcore gamer involves hating on others and a specific company since they're so insistent on proving to the rest of the world that gamers are morons.

I don't have those memories :P I do remember playing Super Mario Bros. 3 but only a little bit (same with World). I grew up with SEGA primarily, our SNES was only used for Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat 2.

True because that's not their forte, it's the reason why Microsoft's entry into the console business was so successful, because no one else at the time could offer what they could in terms of an online network. Even Sony took a few years before PSN was just as good (now I believe it's better) than XBL.

@abHS4L88 @grbolivar When it comes to network ,Nintendo is always behind, but at least they are trying this generation.
When it comes to great games they are never behind. :)

@danpando @emperiox @jcnba28 @HWGuy14

id say despite the wiiU being technically "next-gen console", the fact it NEEDS time for it to be better than CURRENT GEN consoles basically tell you all you need to know.

by the time it "catches up" with ps3 and xbox 360, there will be other consoles more powerful than it.

sure the xbox 360 had huge success because of its quick release, but in this case, the wiiU, id say it was kinda rushed before its time

im not siding with emperiox (he IS just a troll), this is just my personal take on the wiiU.

@emperiox @jcnba28 @HWGuy14  do you have a wii u? wii u is not garbage, in time it will be better than ps3 and xbox,,,i have black ops 2 and the game looks and plays better on the wii u
