Sony Hosting PlayStation-Centric Event Again This December

2015 PlayStation Experience announced; headed to San Francisco this year instead of Las Vegas.

Sony's PlayStation Experience public gaming event has been renewed for a second year, and changes are coming to its venue and ticket prices.

The 2015 PlayStation Experience will be held December 5-6, which is about the same time as last year's show, but the location is changing from Las Vegas to San Francisco's Moscone Convention Center.

Attendees can play "2016's biggest games" on the show floor, as well as already-released titles. Unfortunately, a list of playable games is not available. In addition, Sony will make "major PlayStation announcements" during the event, while fans should also expect some "patented PlayStation surprises."

Last year, Sony held a keynote address at PlayStation Experience where the company showed off a ton of games and made quite a few notable announcements.

Presumably due to Sony's new relationship with Capcom for Street Fighter V, the show will also host the Capcom Cup Street Fighter tournament on December 6. It's the final stop on the Capcom Pro Tour, and 32 of the world's top players will compete for a share of the $250,000 prize pool.

Sony has also announced that ticket prices will be cheaper this year. Everyone who registers before September 20 can buy a two-day pass for $60 while supplies last. After that date, two-day passes will sell for $75, which is still below the $90 price they were offered for last year.

One-day tickets sell for $45 (Saturday) and $40 (Sunday). By comparison, single-day passes cost $50 for last year's event. A special Capcom Cup VIP package is also available, featuring front area seating, a Capcom goodie bag, and access to the Capcom Cup after-party. Tickets for this are available through a $75 add-on to the standard PlayStation Experience pass, meaning it'll cost you at least $115.

You can buy all tickets today from the PlayStation Experience website, where you're encouraged to register with the email associated with your PlayStation Network account.

Sony has also announced some special hotel offers for people coming in from out of town. Check out this PlayStation Blog post for more.

Last year's PlayStation Experience also featured a number of developer panels, including one about Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. This panel and others, as well as the keynote address, were streamed live on Twitch, but Sony didn't say anything about streaming plans for this year.
