This week's slate of releases promises a little bit of everything for living-room gamers. While last week's releases were dominated by handheld games, big-screen gamers reap the benefits of a week with a diverse range of genres.

World War II combat real-time strategy? Check. Cartoony role-playing game? Yup. Fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game? Affirmative. Classic gaming icon redone on a next-gen system? Absolutely. Party game, city-building strategy, and arcade-style shooter? Yes, yes, and yes.

Leading the pack is a new PlayStation 2 role-playing game from Level 5, the same team that created the Dark Cloud games. The high-profile Rogue Galaxy was released over a year ago in Japan but only now makes its way to the US in English with some new additions. For more information, read GameSpot's review.

For those looking for a new fantasy-based MMO game, Sony Online Entertainment offers up Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Developed by Sigil Games, Vanguard is set in the expansive realm of Telon and lets gamers choose their way of life from three branches: adventuring, crafting, and diplomacy. There's no shortage of choices, with 19 playable races and 15 different professions.

Gamers who prefer their battles in more real-world environments can test their military know-how with Eidos Interactive's Battlestations: Midway for the PC and Xbox 360. The game combines action with real-time strategy as players are tasked with launching a full-scale battle in the Pacific during World War II. Gamers can view the game from a distance and direct units, then seamlessly hop into the cockpit of a plane and take care of business up close and personal.

PlayStation 3 owners starving for a new game for their shiny consoles can finally get one this week. Sonic the Hedgehog heads to the PS3 after a lackluster showing on the Xbox 360. The game sees the speedy mascot up to his old tricks, and Sonic is joined this time by another hedgehog, named Silver.

Party games aren't limited to the Wii. The follow-up to the Xbox launch title Fuzion Frenzy hits stores this week with a new developer behind it. Hudson Soft takes over for Blitz Games on Fuzion Frenzy 2, which lets up to four players compete against one another in dozens of simple minigames.
