Russian game developer Akella has announced that Sea Dogs II, its upcoming pirate role-playing game sequel, has reached the alpha stage of development. All the art and main features are now in the game, and the team is working on scripting scenes, polishing the game, and adding other improvements.

Sea Dogs II is the sequel to Sea Dogs, the pirate role-playing game released in November 2000 by Bethesda. The new game will feature a number of improvements on its predecessor, including additional role-playing elements, expanded options for when the player is in town, a new game engine, and several new combat options.

Sea Dogs II is scheduled for release near the end of 2002. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
