Sandbox and CNNSI Launch Fantasy Sports Game

CNNSI.com and Sandbox Entertainment are launching a fantasy sports area called SportSim. Player registration for the first game, a fantasy football game called Full Contact, begins today. Basketball is scheduled to start later in the year, and hockey and golf are planned for 1998.

SportSim, which carries content from CNNSI, Sports Illustrated, and Turner Sports, will compete with ESPN's SportsZone's popular leagues. Unlike SportsZone, however, players will not have to pay a subscription fee to field a team. Additional teams, however, will cost US$19.95.

Last week Sandbox and CNNfn announced a marketing partnership for Sandbox's Final Bell stock market simulation.
