RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile is now available to download from the iTunes App Store.
It costs $3, but also uses familiar free-to-play monetization methods. The game comes pre-loaded with more than $5 of in-game currency, which you can use for in-app purchases. For example, buying the game’s premium currency, tickets, allows you to speed up construction times on rollercoasters and other buildings, which later in the game can take hours to build. When you run out of the complimentary $5 you can buy more tickets with real money.
For those who are still waiting for a new PC version of the game, Atari said that a multiplayer RollerCoaster Tycoon for PC offering cooperative gameplay and “even more social features” is in production and will be introduced holiday 2014.
Based on the RollerCoaster Tycoon theme park building simulation franchise, RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile is published by Atari and designed by mobile app startup On5. It comes with 20 pre-designed coasters and a “bevy” of other park attractions. As with the old RollerCoaster Tycoon games, you can also design and customize your own rides.
The most recent entry in the core RollerCoaster Tycoon series was 2004's RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.
