Rockstar Games has released the first trailer from the Xbox version of Max Payne. Initially appearing on the PC in July, Max Payne is a third-person shooter that follows the story of a rogue undercover cop who is attempting to avenge the murders of his wife and child. Adding a twist to the game's story line, Max has been framed for a heinous crime and cannot count on the support of his comrades at the police department. Similar to many Hong Kong action films, Max Payne shows the action from a variety of unique camera angles and includes the bullet-time slow-motion effect that was made popular in The Matrix.

The trailer shows a variety of environments in the game and also showcases many of the real-world weapons Payne will brandish. Based upon the footage shown, the game appears to be well on its way to completion. Max Payne is currently scheduled for release on the Xbox at the console's launch on November 15. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
