Riglord Saga 3 On The Horizon?

The sequel to Sega Saturn's RPG, Mystara, is coming to the Dreamcast.

As one of the Sega Saturn's earliest RPG releases, Riglord Saga (a.k.a. Mystara: The Realms of Lore/Blazing Heroes (gack!) received all-around thumbs up from the gaming community for its addictive supply of strategy RPG gaming.

The sequel, which was never localized for US consumption, was a significant improvement over the original, with enhanced graphics, added flexibility to the battle engine, and a wider array of intriguing characters. Sadly, after Riglord Saga 2, developer MicroCabin decided to try its hands at other game genres (kickboxing in Savaki, skateboarding in Street Sk8er), often with mixed results.

Fortunately, according to producer Hideji Tanaka, there is a possibility that MicroCabin might begin work on a Dreamcast chapter in the Riglord series. According to Mr. Tanaka, "We have been developing another title for Dreamcast. So, we have to finish this first. After that, it is possible that we will develop the Riglord Saga series for Dreamcast." Great news for fans of the original Saturn game, huh? Details on the game MicroCabin is currently working on for the Dreamcast remain under wraps, but interested fans who would like to see Riglord Saga make its way to the DC should contact MicroCabin at webmaster@microcabin.co.jp.
