Electronic Arts' best-selling game Madden NFL 07 has been a sales-chart juggernaut ever since it was released in late August, and it appears that EA wants to keep it that way. According to several online retailers' sites, a few of the game's most popular editions have had their prices trimmed.

The PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of the game now retail for $39.99 on popular shopping Web sites such as EBgames.com, GameStop.com, Amazon.com, and BestBuy.com. Both the Xbox and PS2 versions were previously priced at $49.99.

The prices of the Xbox 360, GameCube, PSP, DS, and Game Boy Advance versions still remain at their original suggested retail prices. However, several sites are also listing the Xbox 360 Hall of Fame Edition at $59.99, down $10 from its original price.

Last year, EA cut the price of current-gen editions of Madden NFL 06 several times, and by late January (after an August release), the game was available for $29.99--just in time for the Super Bowl.
