I hope they bring back the attaché case back in re7

This could be legit. This is more than a simple graphics update.  It will have native mouse support, better gamepad support, real-time cutscenes, and it will be compatible with steam. These changes alone fix everything that made the 2007 release a terrible port.

It may be worth the $20 to save the hassle of modding the vanilla game just to make it playable.

I'd probably stick with the original so I can keep my custom models, skins, sounds, and whatever.

Looks like the same old game as before -- don't know why the system requirements are that high compared to the original pc version.  You can mod that version by adding the original gamecube textures and higher definition cutscenes and it's probably the exact same thing -- except this new one runs at 60 fps.

What happen to Twisted Metal? Why wasn't there ever a Street Fighter 2 movie, there were 50 Street Fighter 2 games. Why can't they make Mega Man 1-8 in an HD remake (sort of like mario all-stars), Then there was Strider, Ghosts'n Goblins, hell even Who Framed Roger Rabbit could use an HD remake.

Hope CAPCOM is warming up to finally bring a rebooted RE series,RE4 was really enjoyable but Ialways ended up thinking ´´I rather play RE 0,1,2,3 with openworld navigation like RE 4!´´ Imagine a SKYRIM/GTA V like Racoon City!Operation Racoon City gave me a little taste of this...too much to hope for?

Uhh, I am sorry but $20 is just too much even for this game. It has been around way too long, and without any additional content there are just way too many excellent games out right now that you can get for under that.

I thought RE4 was excellent with one of the best sniper sequences on the tram in any video game. But the presidents daughter with irksome voice and giant tits was less realistic then undead zombies. Great atmosphere that can still make you jump, but the use of quick time event button presses always suck.

Anyway no matter how good the game is, $20 for RE4 seems a bit high. Now if this was a update of RE 1-3, with modern graphics, better frames, better production value then yeah. Hopefully steam will have it on sale for 14.99 or under within a few months.

Of the versions I played, the Wii version is by far the best. Got to love the IR aiming! I can only imagine how similar (minus motion) targeting is with a K&M. If I ever get a gaming rig, I might consider this...

One of the greatest games of all time in my opinion.

I bought the Gamecube version pretty much when it came out and (with the exception of the Wii version) was gutted to see that alllll other versions were inferior, some being total shit.  I'm looking at you PC.

The only reason I play Resident Evil 5 on PC is because I can try my best to pretend I'm playing RE4 some of the time, and now I can't even play RE5 because of the Game for Windows Live thing.

CAPCOM have been assholes recently and even though I know this is just another cash grab, I'm so incredibly happy they did it.  Every screw-up they make after this, I don't even care about.  Finally, after nearly a decade, a version of this *epic* game that doesn't feel like a slap in the face.

Why doesn't capcom remake RE1-3 like they did with RE1 for gamecube. Release that at 1080/60 on PS4 and they would get tons of sales.

I would buy this... if they had upped the polygon count on every model int eh game and world geometry as wella s teh sharper textures.  Kind of like remastering the game. Otherwise, i'll just stick with my gamecube and wii versions.

Capcom, give up! Stop launching "the best RE 4 version possible" and focus on a better RE 7 (if we have one...)

I believe more people asking for RE 2 HD remake.

We will probably see Capcom turning point during this  console generation.

This game should be called "Resident Evil 4 Our Sequels suck so we Keep Re-Releasing Our Good 1 the Definitive Super Ultra Money Grabbing  Edition"... But wait pre-order now and it will include some NUTS!

Small petition: Spain doesn't use Pesetas since Xmass 1999, Capcom could update that.

Also, (although I have no hope for this) people from Galicia/Asturias/Euskady (the regions in the north in which the game is supposed to take place) DO NOT have a Mexican accent xDD

Well, it better does after all this years!

Nonetheless, any excuse to play that game again is more than welcome.

Awesome game in its day.  Controls are out-dated though.

Sharper textures eh? Wow that must've taken a lot of effort. I wonder if it will have mouse support this time too?! Looks like a shameless cash grab to me. It was a good game by had no atmosphere due to a lack of shadows, bloom, ambient occlusion and other standard effects normally found on PC. If they put some effort in to make the game more atmospheric, I would consider. Higher textures and sharper text? Pass.

Good lord. I love RE4 but how many times can you rerelease a game??

AuronAXE

I've always heard good things about this game. If it ends up a well optimized port and not messed up like the Silent Hill HD Collection than I'll probably buy it.

Edit: That or look into the original PC release with mods if that ends up a better option.

DrKill09
DrKill09

4GB RAM and a GTX 560... for THIS?  LMAO!  Sounds like poor optimization to me.  The texturing and polygon count still look too low.

Condemned Criminal Origins came out in 05, and looks MUCH better than this.  Even the original FEAR.

This looks like an XBox1 game running in HD.

This probably couldn't even run on next gen consoles.

Developers these days are like on coke while they describe the system specs ! the game is like 10 years old and no matter how much you juice it up with texture and graphics it wont look good enough so the requirements that they have stated are a load of bull crap !

How about Devil May Cry 3 Special Editon Utimate HD, Capcom?

EDX1

This game was released about 10 years ago and its still the best game of the series...... they should make a remastered HD version for xone/ps4 with new features or move on... i think its time to see a new resident evil and... maybe the next one should be the last one...

ChristysXmas

Surely they'll include proper mouse support this time? And I hope they also remove the tank control. RE5's control scheme would be perfect.

evildead6789

@FashionFreak i used a patch for the pc port (downloading and installing took me about 3 min) and didn't had any problems at all with the controls, i also played at 1280 x 1024, the textures still look better though, but 20$ is a bit too much

Best survival horror game ever made though.

No Argument, No Doubt, just fact.

@jenovaschilld LOL Call of Duty 2 (the release title for the 360) is still $20 on demand. It is a wtf moment cause all they are doing is allowing you to download the program. There is no physical product or shipping/handling but they still feel it is worth it (even though you can get a hard copy at GameStop for $3).

The sad truth is they will sale enough copies to justify the price.

Halloll

@KillzoneSnake because making a remake like the GC one would cost more money than simply recycle everything with a higher resolution.

@Warlord_Irochi

Not necessarily. The game is set in a backwards village mostly isolated from the rest of modern Spain... The poor infected villagers probably never even realized that Spain went Euro.

HaloinventedFPS

@DrKill09requirements don't mean anything, this isn't the 90's anymore

the only thing that's worrying is the 15GB requirement, it maybe a placeholder, but if it's really 15GB, it means the cutscenes are pre rendered

lieuwa

@DrKill09 Don't trust Capcom system requirements's games, it's really a joke

HaloinventedFPS
HaloinventedFPS

@lieuwaActually with a few mods DMC3 is perfectly fine on PC, if Capcom just incorporated those mods into the PC version on Steam, it would be all good, though i would still love DMC1 on PC, fuck DMC2 though

@deadpen @jenovaschilld I read on steam news that all games on XBL have a set minimum price, so that people will not shop for the cheapest games. If they let the games choose whatever price they want, eventually people will have games for under $5 like they do on steam. But XBL needs to keep the minimum threshold for games at set prices so that its a premium service and not a dollar general game sale.

Warlord_Irochi

@Jag85Good point! That makes sense. But what made them go full Mexican?
(Ok, this last one was just a joke... but since I was born on Galicia, well... it just doesn't feel right ;) )

@jenovaschilld @deadpen Oh well that is fair and crap at the same time. Glad Nintendo lets me buy games for $1 to $10 on virtual console.

lonesamurai1

@DrKill09@lonesamurai1The game looks bad by today's standards but If this release had come out back when the game came out everyone would be hailing it as the greatest looking game to date. People who react like you only do it because we have seen games like Crysis and you're judging it from today's graphics, but the bottom line is that game will look like it never did before, run at a framerate that it never did on any other platform all for what will soon be $4.99 or less.
