Resident Evil 4 - Merciless Knight Request Guide

Resident Evil 4 has several Merchant Requests that you can complete to earn Spinels. One of these is called Merciless Knight, where you have to defeat a buffed-up Living Armor and its cohorts. Here's our Resident Evil 4 Merciless Knight guide to help you complete this task.

The Resident Evil 4 Merciless Knight request can be picked up in the Merchant's room in the Grand Hall once you're done with the Chimera Heads Puzzle and the subsequent Ashley Treasures/Puzzle section that follows that. With Leon freed from the cage, you can return to the Merchant's spot to pick up the note. Then, when you're ready, head back to the Mausoleum which Ashley visited earlier.

Down below, you'll encounter the Resident Evil 4 Merciless Knight, clad in a suit of golden armor, as well as two of its pals. The two other mobs can be dealt with normally, as you can parry their blows with your knife. Then, take a quick shot at the exposed parasite at their necks, which will cause them to flinch. Another shot with your handgun and they'll kneel. If you follow up with a roundhouse kick, their main tentacles will emerge, and these are easier to destroy with shotgun blasts.

As for the Merciless Knight, well, it's significantly tougher since the armor's design covers most of the parasite. Indeed, the hit detection will feel a bit off, especially if you try to shoot it from the front or the sides. Worse, even while attempting to shoot its back, the gamepad controls can be a little iffy, too.

Ideally, though, you could bait it into doing a lunge, before moving behind it for a potshot. Alternatively, you can toss a Flashbang Grenade to temporarily stun it. After a few blasts to the parasite clinging to its nape, it should stagger around. Follow it while aiming, and line up your shots. Once the main parasite erupts from its head, blast it a couple of times with your shotgun.

Once you defeat the Resident Evil 4 Merciless Knight, you can pick up the loot (i.e., all three Living Armors drop each round gemstone variant). Don't forget to return to the Merchant to complete the request, which will net you 8x Spinels.
