Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory aims for PSP January 27
Hudson's sci-fi cyborg game features 1,000 dungeons and a four-player mode.
TOKYO--Hudson announced today that it will release Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory for the PSP on January 27. The game will be priced at 4,800 yen ($47). The game was originally scheduled for simultaneous release with the PSP on December 12, but was unexpectedly delayed.
In Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory, gamers assume the role of ADAM, one of many cyborgs abandoned by the government after a world war and disposed of in an eight-story tower. The game features more than 1,000 dungeons, and gamers will have to destroy the other cyborgs that cross their paths en route to the tower's peak.
Instead of requiring players to rack up experience points, Rengoku allows them to equip their character with weapons that appear when they defeat other cyborgs. Rengoku also features a "pankration mode" that allows up to four players to fight against each other using the PSP's Wi-Fi connection. In this multiplayer mode, gamers can either start off fighting bare-handed, or choose default weapons.
