Red Faction: Guerrilla set for September on PCs

Desktop edition of Mars-bound open-world shooter takes aim at a launch window as publisher rephrases release schedule statements.

by

Yesterday, THQ told investors that it had no new game releases planned through its current fiscal quarter, which ends September 30. As a result, GameSpot reported that Red Faction: Guerrilla would come out no sooner than October. A THQ representative today clarified the company's previous statements and, in so doing, narrowed down a September release window for the sci-fi shooter.

Alec Mason was a steel-driving man.

"Red Faction: Guerrilla for the PC is still on track for worldwide release in September," the representative said. "Yesterday's earnings call was referencing the fact that there will be no new full releases in Q2 FY10."

When it launches, Red Faction: Guerrilla for the PC will join the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions (see review below) on store shelves, both of which were released in June. In reporting its record quarterly results yesterday, THQ revealed that the Volition-developed shooter shipped more than a million copies across the two consoles. However, it was easily outpaced by the publisher's mixed martial arts game UFC 2009: Undisputed, which shipped 2.9 million copies worldwide.

Anybody remember the Saints Row PC port? Much much worse than the GTA IV port that everyone complained about, hopefully Volition actually puts some effort into Red Faction otherwise I will not be buying it.

Just as long as it's a quality port.Volition has plenty of PC experience, so it should be.

Perhaps because the PC is a whole nother beast compared to a console? It's a lot harder to make a PC game, than a console game.

it will be a port and with the 360 showing how much of a suck fest this is, it wont sell well.

Better not be a 360 port to pc with no mouse button support just like ghostbusters. and it better not have mouse inputs locked to the frame rate just like dead space, slower the frame rate, the more lag you get from the mouse.... devs have been uber lazy bringing pc controls to games lately.

I'm glad about the delay. Rather wait for a good PC release, than a crappy port.

Im glad ! I dont usually play PC games but im glad to see that publishers still know that it is a thriving platform and should get just as much attention as the consoles. this game is great and im sure it will kill on the PC !

For some reason PC gamers dont seem to generally care for TPS. I sold my sexbox just before I saw this was coming out, glad it will finally be coming to PC so I can crank up the res and details! Just pray for us that we also get the DLC & decent post-release support.

Great, now I can get the next game of the series for my PC! Now, I just have to upgrade my PC so I can do that. Well, I was going to do that, anyway. I need to get a dual core processor, because all the new PC games seem to need it.
