PSP gets Conned

Sony's latest sees players mixing pit fighting with a poker face as an ex-convict settling debts.

Hot on the heels of Marvel Nemesis, the PSP gets its second 3D fighting game today with The Con, developed by SCEA and Think & Feel, Inc. Unlike Marvel Nemesis, or any other fighting game that springs to mind, The Con isn't all about winning.

The primary goal in The Con is making money. As a result, players can bet on the action and try to take a convincing dive if the payoff is tempting enough. But fixing a fight isn't as simple as the outcome. To really make a killing (financially), players will have to be good at faking a fight as well, taking a beating in the early rounds to drive up the payoff, or embellishing weak attacks to avoid accidentally knocking out an opponent.

Beyond "customizing" the outcomes of the matches to suit their needs, players are also able to customize their characters with one of five fighting disciplines (street boxing, wrestling, kick boxing, tae kwon do, and jeet kune do) and a variety of appearance options.

The Con is rated T for Teen and retails for $39.99. Check back with GameSpot soon for a full review.
