Facebook support on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation TV is coming to an end.

The Facebook app was removed from the PlayStation Store on September 15, while support for all Facebook features on the devices listed above will be terminated in January 2016. The PlayStation 4 is in no way affected by the forthcoming service shutdown.

In its announcement, Sony made no mention of why it's taking this action. But it's not the first time the company has ended support for some features, as the PS Vita lost its YouTube and Maps functionality earlier this year.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding," Sony said.
