That's up from 7 million units shipped back in March, according to Gematsu.
Level-5 did not provide a breakdown of shipment figures by game. But Yo-Kai Watch Busters: Red Cat Team and White Dog Squad sold 1.7 million units since its release earlier this year, Gematsu reports. In addition, the first Yo-Kai Watch arrived in the United States just last month for the 3DS.
Yo-Kai Watch is an RPG in which players assume the role of a boy capable of seeing and interacting with Yo-kai, which are ordinarily invisible. These are beings that take on the appearance of all sorts of things. They cannot be seen by the human eye, but they are everywhere.
The first game was launched in Japan back in 2013, where it's become tremendously popular, already receiving a sequel and a line of toys, manga, and an anime series. The next game in the series is Yo-Kai watch Dance: Just Dance Special Edition for Wii U, which arrives in December.
