PlayStation 3 version of Disney Infinity locking up

PS3 version of toy-based game freezing during play; game's producer recommends deleting 1.01 software patch while resolution is being worked on.

The PlayStation 3 version of newly released toy-based game Disney Infinity is experiencing technical difficulties on the platform, according to posts on the official PlayStation 3 support forum.

PS3 owners are being advised to delete the game's 1.01 patch.

Multiple users (via Kotaku) have reported that the game locks up as soon as a user places a Disney Infinity figurine onto the base. The game's producer, John Vignocchi, has recommended on Twitter that players delete the game's launch-day 1.01 patch.

Owners of the game should note that online play will not be available without the software update. The patch prompt screen will also continue to pop up for several minutes unless users disconnect their PS3s from the internet.

Disney has issued a statement about the problem on the Disney Infinity Facebook page, stating that this is not a software-related issue, and that the company is currently seeking to resolve it. No similar issues have been detected on the Xbox 360 and Wii U versions of the game so far.

People stop trying to put your c*ck in the game as the base won't recognize it.

how can anyone be so excited for new ps4 when ps3 isn't even up to code on a basic game as this............what a waste

Given that the console i've had most issues with this gen was xbox, i am perfectly fine with saying that ps3 had some major problems of their own. But people who act like zealots for one console or the other need to remember that both consoles had some SEEERIOUS bs going on. My first ps3 had that yellow light of death. My first xbox 360 gave me that big ole red ring, while my second can only read discs after i re-insert them about 20 times.

Speaking purely based on my satisfaction with products, i don't want any more xbox products because they seem to have failed me on multiple occasions.

Meh.. buy the WiiU version, it looks a lot better anyhow..

Is anyone else curious how this is supposedly "not a software-related issue" yet deleting their software patch seems to fix the problem?

What I don't understand: hasn't the PS3 been out since what 2006? I've had mine since 2008...its not like the hardware has changed much and the platform is more or less fixed. So why is it so hard for companies to release software that doesn't need patches on day 1?

My son got a lockup on the Xbox 360 when he was playing the game. I think the software is not so polished as Disney would like us to believe.

It amazes me that patches are still released without proper testing....a launch day patch, couldnt have been tested atleast not for long.
They have just rushed out a fix without testing it on everything and hoping no problems arise...now their fan base will be pretty pissed off at em and the fix team will be working overtime to correct this. Gonna be alot of annoyed kids.....

I wonder how issues like this and Skyrim will affect current gen titles once next gen hits.  Are some devs going to be hesitant to do the more complex PS3 version if they aren't already familiar with its quirks?  If so, would this help the 360 and Wii U or does it hasten next gen adoption?

Lol @ people blaming the console and not the devs that didn't test their crap assed port.

How many times do Sony tell us "We're not software people"

No sh!t sherlock... yet there are people still optimistic they'll be bale to reduce the size of the OS to free up more processing power for developers... yeah right!

this is why I stopped using my PS3 years ago. Sony and updates don't work that well together and that sucks because they have a lot of good single player games on that console and you never know how a update is going to treat your console. if the update works you have to install the game sign a agreement and possible do a update again. If it doesn't work your console gets bricked

I hope kids don't bring the Cod attitude to this game like trash talking, mum/racist jokes, hack threats, and 1v1 challenges.

Oh the joy on online gaming....Adding and deleting patches, server outages, paying for DLC, paying monthly fees, dealing with immature assholes.

And people wonder why smart gamers shun online gaming???

Disney has issued a statement that this is not a software-related issue but to delete the patch. LOL.

@DBCar83 I would say "the crap from Avalanche Software". Disney doesn't care they just want the money !

NightOfInsomnia
NightOfInsomnia

@epross After all the money they spent on it, you'd think it would work perfectly on all consoles.

Radnen

@epross The day 1 patch is because Q&A is such a lengthy process there has to be a moment of time in which you consider the game "done" even if it's not finished. Since the process of registering the game to console takes a long time (months) further Q&A happens and thus they end up helping to release a day 1 patch since it takes only a few weeks for a patch to be verified rather than an entire game. Every kid knows this by now; this is also why we have day one DLC.

@Ian-Cognito pretty sure the kernel team has more ability and experience with linux than what you give them credit for. Not every company that deals with software makes it a priority to invest into monopolizing the land. Sony has been with the linux community for some time now.

@canuckbiker totally agree that fans flew into an outrage. Don't necessarily agree that it was warranted. I was a part of that launch and i lived with it because dear god there's more then a week left in human history to play this game?!?!?! J)9gjaso0kghp0s0phkfhdk[pfdkh[p0dkjdk,p[ OH MY GOD!

@innocent69 @obsequies @Ian-Cognito it was an option on the ps2 too. Other OS was dropped because people were abusing it and the US military was using them as cheap server farms at SONY's expense
