Looking for something new to play on Xbox One? Just in time for the weekend, Microsoft has announced Rocket League is free to download and play June 9-12. Additionally, Microsoft is hosting a Free Multiplayer Weekend for both Xbox One and Xbox 360 for the same dates.

Microsoft has dropped the Xbox Live Gold requirements for multiplayer gaming in the past for limited-time events. However, Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb said on his blog that this is the first time it's ever being done on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 for the same weekend.

If you're thinking about storage space considerations, Rocket League weighs in at 3.86 GB. Additionally, in case you enjoy what you play during the free weekend, the game is on sale this week for $18 instead of $20 until June 13.

You can download Rocket League's free Xbox One weekend version here from Xbox.com. GameSpot's Rocket League review scored the soccer-with-cars games a 9/10.

The free Rocket League/free multiplayer weekend wraps up on June 12, which is one day before Microsoft's E3 2016 briefing in Los Angeles on June 13. Rumor has it that Microsoft will announce a slimmed-down Xbox One and possibly multiple streaming devices.
