Persona 5 website name registered by Atlus parent company

"Persona.jp" domain name is now under Index Corporation.

Atlus may be revealing more information on its upcoming RPG Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 5 soon.

Fans may witness an official announcement for Persona 5 in the near future.

According to a post on NeoGaf, Atlus parent company Index Corporation recently registered a website trademark for "persona5.jp" via the WHOIS registry site. Atlus confirmed back in 2010 that a new Persona title is in the works. It has yet to announce a platform at this point in time. Katsura Hashino (Persona 3, Persona 4) will be the game's producer, while Shigenori Soejima and Shoji Meguro will be handling character design and sound composing duties, respectively.

Index Corporation are experiencing financial difficulties. Despite this, Atlus said that the company will still resume business as usual, with Dragon's Crown coming out on its intended July 25 date in Japan and its Persona Music FES 2013 concert launching later this year at the Nippon Budokan.

Look like this is the only Japanese game that I know of that get so much positive reviews. I hope the new one is for console's. I'll just watch the walkthrough for the PS Vita Persona game since I don't own a PS Vita.

I have both a Vita and 3DS, love both and will get a PS4 at launch, yet I really hope that Atlus releases this on the PS3 and PS4. The Vita is expected to get a lot of attention in the next few months and I think it'd be great if a game came to the current gen late next year. Although if it comes out after 2014, I'd be very surprised if it wasn't a PS4 exclusive.

I wouldn't be surprised if this would be a Nintendo exclusive since they made the stupid choice of making SMT for 3DS.

I hope it will come with more unique personas.

And I hope it has something to do with Minato. After his sacrifice for Nyx.

Hopefully it's a Nintendo (Wii U or 3DS) exclusive.

People have to be careful with the Persona series of Jrpgs, its one of the series that can make or break your relationship with rpgs especially if your the type to easily get frustrated.  Thats why I never played P3, even 4 has its moments of frustration and cheesy boss fights, but luckily the story makes up for its actual RPG shortcomings.

I Swear .. If ATLUS did something stupid like making the game exclusively for the "Wii U" .. something really really awful will happen on the internet !

Persona demonstrates that a great RPG is defined by memorable characters and solid gameplay rather than cutting-edge graphics.  If only other companies took this lesson to heart...

Too bad I'm not really into JRPGs, combat becomes repetitive quickly, exploration is minimal compared to open world RPGs. I did enjoy Chrono Trigger though.

I doubt I'll be playing this game if it's a Vita exclusive. Such a pity too.. I really liked P4.

hoping ps3/vita cross play - they have really underutilized that relationship.

Please not next gen.

I have a PS3, PS Vita, 3DS, and will be getting a PS4. Bring it on Persona 5. If you're not on at least one of these systems... Then what the **** are you doing?

I'm really excited to see how they'll make a new Persona game (with new social links and hopefully a different setting) considering that the cast of P3 and P4 will almost certainly be returning to fight whatever took Labrys over and stated that it wants to steal their Personae.

I hate that this franchise skipped this home console gen. But hopefully it makes a reapperance.

@Mraou why on wii u? so it can fail and be the end of the persona series? you must not like Persona very much..

@Daian You said "Combat becomes repetitive" and "Open world RPG" in the same sentence.  At least combat in JRPG's often needs a different approach or some form of tactics,  while open world is doing essentially just the same thing over and over and over and over for the full duration.  Can't really argue with exploration though,  at least not in Persona's case.

It Was On the PS2 btw.

It was rereleased with slightly more content on Vita... so i won't call P4 Exclusive to Vita :) Just Saying

@eva02langley when people try that, the company either sidesteps (by adding a "the game" or something to the domain), or it sues the hell out of you until you give them the domain.

@eva02langley

that is like buying a lottery ticket.

there's just so many variations, and there's only one that the company will choose.

@lx_theo There's a chance it might be on PS2.

Naw, I'm kidding. PS3 and Vita seem like a good bet.

lx_theo

@GOGOHeadray

It really didn't. Persona 3 and 4 were released, while for PS2, during the time that PS3 and 360 were already well and going.

Persona 3 (2006 JP, 2007 NA, 2008 EU)

Persona 4 (2008 JP & NA, 2009 EU)

So there is a good chance they will see a release on the PS3. Unless hey release on handhelds (Vita and/or 3DS) or Sony and/or Nintendo is pushing them to release on the next gen platforms.
