Strategy First has announced that the release date for its upcoming 3D real-time strategy game O.R.B. has been pushed back into early 2001. According to Strategy First, O.R.B. is the most technically ambitious game the developer has ever created, and extra time was needed to address some outstanding issues. The game pits two planets against one another in a battle for control of an asteroid belt. During this conflict, a third alien race threatens the entire solar system. The 3D game engine features a realistic physics model, and supports three-dimensional movement. Units can improve their abilities over the course of the game through an experience point system, and a multiplayer mode supports up to eight players.

For more information about the game, visit the official O.R.B. web site. We'll have more information about the game as the game gets closer to completion. Until then, take a look at these four exclusive screenshots taken from the latest build of the game.
