If the demo version of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS isn't enough for you, or you simply want to try out the Wii U version of the upcoming brawler, you may want to head to a college football game sometime in the next two months. Nintendo will be bringing both games to a select number of games for tailgaters to try out over the next nine weeks.
Known as The Tailgate Tour, there are nine stops on Nintendo's trip, beginning with the LSU-Auburn game this coming Saturday, October 4. It'll then head to a major game each Saturday throughout October and November.
The Wii U game will be available only in demo form, and will be there to "pit fans of the rival school[s] against one another." Nintendo will keep track of which team's fans come out on top and post the results on Facebook, subjecting the losers to endless amounts of ridicule. The 3DS version, meanwhile, will be there to let "friends settle their scores."
The full schedule for the tour is as follows:
- Oct. 4: LSU at Auburn
- Oct. 11: Penn State at Michigan
- Oct. 18: Georgia vs. Arkansas
- Oct. 25: Alabama at Tennessee
- Nov. 1: Florida vs. Georgia
- Nov. 8: Alabama at LSU
- Nov. 15: Florida State at Miami
- Nov. 22: Louisville at Notre Dame
- Nov. 29: Michigan at Ohio State
The 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. launches this Friday, October 3. (You can check out our review here.) The Wii U version, meanwhile, is still slated for release "this holiday season," Nintendo reiterated today, though it continues to offer no more specificity than that.
