Nintendo announces modem release date

Nintendo has announced the release date for its dial-up adapter for the GameCube in Japan.

Nintendo has announced that it will release the GameCube's dial-up adapter in Japan August 8 to coincide with the release of Sega's Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II in that territory. The adapter will retail for 3,800 yen ($30.56). Nintendo has yet to announce a release date and price for the GameCube's broadband adapter. We'll have more on Nintendo's online plans in North America when they become available.
