In August, a fan site for Sega's magically inclined jester NiGHTS reported overheard news from the 2007 Leipzig Games Convention that the titular hero's next-gen debut on the Wii had slipped from its fall 2007 release to an undisclosed 2008 date. Today, Sega officially confirmed that, for North America at least, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams will take to the skies on December 18 in the region. Sadly, Europeans aren't so lucky, and the title will indeed be coming in January 2008.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is a sequel to one of the Sega Saturn's most acclaimed hits, NiGHTS Into Dreams. Journey of Dreams presents the imaginative world of Nightopia, where gamers perform acrobatic maneuvers to navigate rings, capture items, and confront the dream world's denizens using the Wii Remote. The game will also feature a sandbox mode where players can create their own environments to soar through, as well as include two-player functionality and online support.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is rated E for Everyone and will retail for $49.99. GameSpot's previous coverage has more on the game.
