NFS: Hot Pursuit tracking down DLC trio

EA and Criterion Games bringing three new, $7 add-ons for cops-and-robbers racer beginning February 22.

by

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit has proven to be a hit for Electronic Arts, as the Criterion Games-developed action racer has shipped more than 5 million units. Criterion has already released one downloadable content pack to keep gas in the game's tank, but the studio won't be stopping there. Today, Criterion announced that three more add-ons will be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Hot Pursuit, the first of which will take the line on February 22.

Titled Armed & Dangerous, the first add-on includes two new online game modes and three achievements/trophies. Most Wanted mode sees gamers attempting to protect a criminal racer by fending off the onslaught of cops out to make the bust. Arms Race is the second mode, and it plays out like a vehicular deathmatch.

Cops'll get Lambos too, unfortunately.

On March 1, Criterion will release Lamborghini Unleashed, a pack that introduces the famed car manufacturer's Diablo, Countach, and Sesto Elemento to the game. The pack also includes 10 new events and four achievements/trophies.

This round of new offerings concludes on March 8 with the release of the Porsche Unleashed pack. The Porsche pack adds the car maker's 911 Turbo (1982 Edition), 959, and 911 Speedster to the game, along with 10 new events and four achievements/trophies.

Each pack will carry a $7 (560 Microsoft points) price tag. For more on Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

These DLCs are TOO expensive!! I am sure from gamers' perspective, we wanna play all the contents a game has to offer. However, the hefty admission fees to enjoy them all are certainly a huge hit to wallets and bank accounts! I know I don't have to buy them; it's a free market. However, when I can only see them but not own them surely makes an uncomfortable feeling inside me!

The thing is with the PC, it's a bit like a console, except it runs games much, much better, looks astoundingly better (anti-aliasing!), and you don't have to use controllers which are the equivalent of sticking turkeys on your hands and playing with one eye shut. But oh yeah, it's useful for nothing besides MMOs, RTSs, FPSs, sim games (poor wittle consoles have trouble rendering all that scenery), in fact any genre you care to mention. What was I saying?

lol at pc gamers. accept that the pc is no longer useful for anything other then a mmo.

They should follow forza's dlc pricing and put it at $5 for each pack.

I'm confused as to why the writer of this article put a Viper in the picture and then said, "Cops get Lambos too..." lol

TDU 2 IS BETTER STANDARDS , , EA SCREWED up on this one , dont se how it ever got a 8.5 it didnt even have custom race modes lol split screen and custom race modes exclusive to the wii no less and the wii dont even look like hp2 they should have made a remake of hp 2 to begin with , this one is short of all attempts its a burnout without the crash junctions i stopped once i beat the game

So 21 dollars for 2 game modes and 6 Cars? I still play this game everyday but come on, the game modes should be free. I mean thats half of what TDU2 cost.

I love this game...Best Racing game by far! all my friends are playing it,also GT5 haha lol lets put in so many cars that 90% no one wants to play. 560p for each pack?wow talk about rip off i wanted them but that's a little steep for a couple of game modes isn't it?

Meh. I was disappointed in Hot Pursuit. It was too much like Burnout, but without all the cool features that made Burnout fun, and was definitely not as fun as older NFS games.

allready sold my copy. meh. it was a good game, but not a keeper. Need For speed is moving back into the right direction. but these are the guys who make burnout. this burnout 3 had more action in it than this need for speed. It felt a little 2D thats all. but I am looking foward to the next one. skip on the dlc.

I haven't touched Hot Pursuit since it came out. I played for about 3 weeks then moved on to other things. I should have waited for TDU2.....
