After it was announced last year, we've now learned the name of the new Resident Evil CG movie and also some story details by way of a new image. The film is called Resident Evil: Vendetta,

The studio behind the movie, Japanese outfit Marza Animation Planet--which is owned by Sega--made the announcement today on its website and also released a new picture. It showcases Leon S. Kennedy and a Ducati motorcycle, specifically the newest XDiavel model.

Leon will ride this motorcycle in the movie during "action-packed" scenes and also at the film's climax. No other story details were revealed, but some kind of chase scene involving the motorcycle seems likely. The motorcycle's appearance in the film comes by way of a collaboration between Marza and Ducati, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer.

For a closer look at the motorcycle and to see Vendetta's logo, check out the images in the gallery above. The images, taken at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show, were posted by Marza on Facebook.

Vendetta, due out in 2017, is written by Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass) and directed by Takanori Tsujimoto (Hard Revenge Milly, Ultraman X). In addition, The Grudge creator Takashi Shimizu is attached as an executive producer for the computer-generated film. Capcom's Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who also produces the live-action Resident Evil movies, is on-board as an executive supervisor.

This isn't the first animated Resident Evil movie. It will follow 2012's Resident Evil: Damnation and 2008's Resident Evil:Degeneration.

It won't be the only new Resident Evil movie debuting in 2017, either, as the live-action Resident Evil: The Final Chapter film starring Milla Jovovich comes to theaters in January 2017.

In Resident Evil game news, Capcom is re-releasing Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with Resident Evil 6 coming out first, debuting on March 29. In addition, the publisher has told gamers to "stay tuned" for news about Resident Evil 7.
