New VP at 3DO

Lauren Ward Larsen has joined the 3DO Company as its vice president of marketing.

Larsen comes to 3DO from Wadsworth Publishing, a publisher of educational books and software, where she served as VP of marketing. Prior to that position, she served as director of marketing for Simon & Schuster, where she worked with new media and on a strategic partnership with America Online.

Larsen also has worked in marketing positions with Pepsi-Cola, developing promotions for the Pepsi-owned Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut restaurants. She also developed retail distribution strategies for Pepsi brands.

"We see a strong relationship between the book publishing business model and software publishing," said Trip Hawkins, 3DO president and CEO. "When we couple Lauren's publishing experience with her consumer products background, we see the combination as a tremendous skill set that we need to support our future growth."
