New Vegas - Honest Hearts DLC delayed for PS3

New $10 add-on content for Obsidian's latest Fallout title pushed indefinitely for Sony's console; now live for Xbox 360 and PC.

by

Over the weekend, Sony brought the PlayStation Network back online after nearly a month of downtime. However, though the online service is back, the latest batch of downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas won't arrive as regularly scheduled.

Announced earlier this month for a simultaneous release on the Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3 on May 17, the $10 Honest Hearts downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas has been delayed indefinitely for the PS3.

Honestly, the Honest Hearts DLC has been delayed.

In a short statement on publisher Bethesda's blog, it was announced that the content had been delayed due to "recent issues surrounding the PlayStation Network." Unfortunately, Bethesda did not offer any sort of timetable as to when the content will arrive.

As for the Honest Hearts content, it takes place in Utah's Zion National Park and sees gamers leading an expedition that is swamped by a roving tribal war party. Players are then charged with escaping to the Mojave, battling the belligerent nomads in the process.

For more on the title in question, check out GameSpot's review of Fallout: New Vegas.

@BoneyHead95 Yes, MS paid to have the DLC sooner, but it goes beyond that. The sheer amount of bugs, glitches, etc that go unaddressed on the PS3 versions of their games is also a slap in the face to the PS3 community. This is especially made clear in Fallout 3, where the 360 version is far superior to the PS3 version. The 360 version of the game runs quite smoothly compared to it's PS3 counterpart.

Microsoft must of made them do this. They do pay them more than SONY. I don't think it's Betheda doing. ): This is also at @JoshX042

Bethesda just hates PS3 owners...and this is just another example of that.

@wwefan4ever Enough about Fo3 sucks sh*t because its not the same as Fo2 or 1. Its a different game and bethesda tried to make one, they made an incredible game, sure doesn't follow the same concepts as Fo2 or 1 but does that make me burn my disc? No, just play it like its an entirely new series, its different and its great that what I love about it.

@wwefan4ever I like New Vegas better too, but everything you said was explained in the game. In online forums discussing Fallout, the legitimacy of those things aren't even disputed anymore. Unless it's at No Mutants Allowed or RPGCodex, in which case it's better to discuss Civil Rights with Klansman.

Fallout 3 is an embarrassment to the Fallout franchise. The Enclave was destroyed in fallout 3, so them being on the East Cost is stupid. HArold being in the game is stupid as by the time FAllout 3 happens, he already has a huge tree growing out of him so there is no way he can get from the West Coast to the East Coast when the middle of the country has terrible storms. Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout 3 turns from a xenophobic group of technology hoarders to people helping people in the wasteland, something the original Brotherhood had no interest in doing. They label the people who believe in what the BoS is about are called Outcasts while they are actually true to BoS, the BoS in Fallout 3 are the Outcasts while the outcasts are the real BoS. Fallout 3 sucks plain and simple. Fallout 2 > Fallout 3.

@cipo89 Fallout 3 more immersive my ass, that game is a piece of trash.

I won't buy it. I'm boycotting their online only purchases until they sell it at the store. I bought all of the FO3 add-ons and have the disks in case I need to reload. I don't trust those fools with my credit card#.

@syafiqjabar What I was trying to say was basically that Fallout 3 was more immersive, and it was a much better game than Fallout NV. I knew it was supposed to be more populized than Fallout 3 but wasn't anywhere close to as good as Fallout 3.

Will probably buy it tonight but will probably not have time to play it until the PS3 owners get to buy it LOL

This is BS. Sure, the PS Store is down, but it will be up soon. Why not make the DLC available then? They're delaying it indefinately? Looks like PS3 owners are getting the shaft from Bethesda... again.

@cipo89 That's because New Vegas isn't a total wasteland, it was supposed to be a location relatively unaffected by the bomb and in the process of being rebuild. California in Fallout 2 already has 5 thriving cities (NCR capital Shady Sands, New Reno, Vault City, New Arroyo after the game ends and San Francisco). By the time of New Vegas, California is almost completely rebuild (because NCR took over everything) and that development is spreading to Nevada. The Fallout franchise can only be a wasteland for so long, future games will probably be set in more sustainable communities.

Calm down--It's delayed until the PSN store can allows purchases again and Obsidian doesn't know when SONY will get the store back so they can't give a date. I'm sure as soon as SONY gets the store up you kids will get the DLC, and I'm sure SONY is working as hard as they can to get it back up.

As if PS3 user's haven't suffered enough. What does Bethesda have against the PS3 exactly? Why are we always getting shafted by them. Uh, another GOTY I'll be buying.

SoNin360
SoNin360

Was an article about this really necessary? I mean the PSN store is down, so obviously the add on can't be released on the PS3 yet. I just want to know if they plan to bundle the DLC with the game on 1 disc. I want to play them sometime, but not for $10 each.

look on the bright side, GOTY edition will be out towards the end of the year...just watch.

Fallout NV was nowehere close to as addicting as Fallout 3 was, Fallout 3 actually felt like a wasteland and was comepletly immersive. Fallout NV felt like a desert next to a slum. I dont care too much about another DLC

Are they really delaying due to PSN outage, or are we getting the shaft again, just like we have been with previous DLCs and updates.

@MEDzZ3RO - Well I did play 1,2 and Tactics years before but 3 was a new experience , I must have put 100s of hours into it :D

MEDzZ3RO
MEDzZ3RO

@JunglemanchiId Having only played New Vegas for a few hours I say Fallout 3 for the same reason as you, it was my first experience of Fallout and I liked it. We always have a soft spot for the first game in a franchise we play.

JunglemanchiId
JunglemanchiId

@MEDzZ3RO - Tough one. New Vegas used a lot of the mods that were made for FO3, hardcore mode was good. The main story was also much better. Though despite everything, it did seem like a massive expansion, it had been done with FO3. I think the broken engine ruined the experience. FO3 was better because that was the first experience. I'm sure some people who play NV first might think otherwise. You?

MEDzZ3RO
MEDzZ3RO

@JunglemanchiId Oh dear.... Ignoring each game's technical issues, which did you find better?

JunglemanchiId
JunglemanchiId

@MEDzZ3RO - I've spoken to some people who avoided problems. It's when my save file became enormous, large cache causing freezing in open areas. Point Lookout was unplayable. This was all heaven compared to New Vegas, which honestly froze every 10 minutes.

MEDzZ3RO
MEDzZ3RO

@JunglemanchiId Aside from frame rate issues I've never had a problem with Fallout 3 on PS3. Only issue I had was getting to the final FO3 mission only to find you can't get out of the final room to continue the side quests; my save data corrupted before the DLC released that let's you out of the room.... I've not had the heart to start over again yet.

MEDzZ3RO
MEDzZ3RO

Genius... PS Store's down; how long did this take you to work out..... I'll probably do the same as Matt, wait for a GOTY editon.

Ill wait. Still havent gotten New Vegas sadly. I may as well wait for the GOTY edition with all the extras now.

JunglemanchiId

Does NV still run like it's broken? Patches fixed this or is it still just as bad as FO3 would run? Wanting to get the GOTY when it's out but I really don't want to reset the PS3 every 5 mins.

To be expected since the store is down, I wont be picking it up though. I 'll be waiting for the goty edition.

Havn't touched my Fallout NV since it was released. So much content already in one game, it does not need dlc.
