A new Kickstarter reward tier has also been added, allowing fans to appear in the game as an NPC in return for $6000. This tier also includes a voice message from voice actor Corey Marshall in character as Ryo, which alone usually costs $1000.
At the time of writing, the campaign sits at around $4,900,000, so this latest reward tier will likely push the pledge total over the $5,000,000 stretch goal, for which Ys Net promise an expanded Baisha Village and a "character perspective system."
At $5,100,000, the developers will commit to adding Portuguese subtitles into the game.
Shenmue III was announced at Sony's E3 2015 conference. Yu Suzuki, creator of the Shenmue series, addressed questions regarding the funding of Shenmue 3 and Sony's involvement in the project.
"Sony and Shibuya Productions are not seeing a cent of your Kickstarter dollars," he added.
The action-adventure game reached its initial $2,000,000 goal in less than 12 hours, but series creator Yu Suzuki later claimed he'd need $10,000,000 to build a "true open world."
