Shenmue 3 Makes $2.4 Million, Crosses its Funding Goal in Less Than 12 Hours

At Sony's E3 2015 press conference, one of the biggest announcements was the return of the beloved Shenmue franchise. Sony revealed that the long-awaited third installment would be launching a Kickstarter campaign, which began as soon as the announcement was made.

It seems that people really want Shenmue 3, because within a couple hours the campaign had already crossed $1 million. And before even a half a day had passed, Shenmue 3 reached its funding goal. In about nine hours, the game had accumulated $2 million in donations.
At the time of this writing, the campaign is now sitting at $2.4 million. Not much is known about the game, but creator Yu Suzuki, who appeared on Sony's stage, promised that it would provide the "full Shenmue experience."
