Although plot details for The Predator haven't been revealed yet, Arnold meeting with Black suggests the character he played in the first entry, Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer, may show up in some form.

"I haven’t talked with [Shane Black] yet but I’m going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon," Swarzenegger told The Arnold Fans. "Just as soon as I’m finished with [Arnold’s Sports Festival] and The Apprentice and all this stuff ... I will get together with him."

Although multiple Predator movies have been made since the original, Schwarzenegger has not returned for any of them. Schwarzenegger added that he also has "a meeting coming up soon about Conan," which the actor previously said he intends to return to.

The official Facebook page for Predator unexpectedly released a teaser poster for a new film on February 16 . According to the image, the title of the film is The Predator, though this could change.

Shane Black, who previously directed Iron Man 3 for Marvel, is expected to direct the movie. Black and Monster Squad director Fred Dekker are believed to have come up with the script together.

In an interview with Collider in 2015, producer John Davis spoke about what fans could expect from The Predator.

"I've read a lot of his script and I think it's genius," he said. "It's entertaining, and what it did is recreate a famous franchise in a different, interesting way; looking at it from a different light. He's got a way of looking at this that makes you excited again.

"The writing is so fresh, the perspective is so fresh. I'm telling you, you're going to get something you don't expect and you're going to say, 'This is the most entertaining way to reinvent a franchise.'"
