THQ has officially announced that work has started on a new game in the MX series that will be released on the PlayStation 2 and GameCube first and the Xbox shortly thereafter. The game will once again feature Ricky Carmichael as its premier rider, and there are plans to include refined freestyle and career modes.

"Our next MX title will continue the success of the franchise by building on all the racing action and features from last year's game with a more robust freestyle mode and an expanded career mode," said Don Traeger, president, Pacific Coast Power & Light Co. "With 22 new tracks and numerous wide-open freestyle worlds to explore, this will be the most in-depth and adrenaline pumping MX game to date."

The PlayStation 2 and GameCube releases are currently planned for this summer. The Xbox version will be available this fall.
