Sony released a handful of new screenshots from Naughty Dog's new game, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, which is scheduled for release this winter. The game puts the player in the role of Jak, who has a sidekick named Daxter. Much to his dismay, Daxter has been transformed into a weasel-like rodent after falling into a huge vat of dark sludge. To bring Daxter back to his normal form, the dynamic duo sets out in search of a sage named Gol Acheron, who knows how to fix Daxter's predicament. However, things are not going according to plan, and you find out that Gol is a pretty evil sage. Gol and his sister Maya plan to kidnap the other four sages of the land, in order to unleash the power of Dark Eco on the world.

The game is essentially a 3D-platformer, with elements of exploration, adventure, strategy, and racing. Additionally, Jak and Daxter will have to complete plenty of little side missions in the game. Technically, the lead characters will consist of six times as many polygons as Crash Bandicoot on the PlayStation, and will be animated complete with lip-synched dialogue.

We'll have more info on Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out the new screenshots, which introduce you to some of the new locations and characters in the game.
