Ubisoft today announced that the master disc for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike is off for duplication, so retail copies should arrive in stores August 2. The game was developed by Ubi-owned Red Storm Entertainment and will be available only on the Xbox.

Summit Strike is an expansion to the Xbox version of Ghost Recon 2, which was released last November. The new game largely uses the same gameplay mechanics and game engine as GR2, and it doesn't require the original game to play. There will be all-new content in the form of single-player and multiplayer maps, missions, and weapons.

In the single-player campaign, the Ghosts, a group of supersoldiers groomed by the military to be silent and deadly, are sent into Kazakhstan. Their target this time is the wealthy warlord Asad Rahil, who is trying to gain control of the former Soviet republic.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike is rated T for Teen and will sell for $29.99. To get an idea of what to expect in the game, check out GameSpot's recent previews of the game's single-player and multiplayer modes.
