Eidos Interactive released a few new details on the latest game in Core Design's Thunderstrike series for the PS2.

Eidos Interactive has revealed several new gameplay details on Core Design's Thunderstrike: Operation Phoenix, which has been announced only for the PlayStation 2 at this time.

The action-heavy helicopter shooting game sends the player through fictional battle zones. Players are assisted by the onboard Airborne Warning and Control System, which primarily aids in navigation. Additionally, players will need to pay attention to the instructions from headquarters because the campaigns will be more dynamic and mission goals can change depending on real-time developments on the battlefield.

Weather conditions will also have an effect on the missions. During night missions, players will have to use infrared cameras. Core Design plans to use 2,000 polygons for each vehicle, which should result in highly detailed tanks, helicopters, and other military vehicles. The terrain can also be deformed, so explosions will have an effect on the real-time environment.

Thunderstrike will be published by Eidos Interactive and is being developed by Core Design. The game is currently scheduled for release around September in Europe. A North American release date has not been confirmed at this time.
