Two special edition Nintendo 3DS XLs, one carrying a Persona Q theme and the other resembling a NES controller, will not launch in Europe, Nintendo has confirmed to GameSpot.

From October 10, both custom-designed handhelds will be available exclusively at GameStop in the US, and will sell for the same price as a standard Nintendo 3DS, at $199.

But Nintendo is keeping the new designs local to the US. A spokesperson for the corporation told GameSpot that "we have no plans to launch these Persona Q or NES controller inspired Nintendo 3DS XL hardware in Europe".

Since the 3DS first released in August 2012, Nintendo has shipped more than sixty different versions, from basic color variations to more elaborate and unique designs.

Many of these designs are exclusive to a certain region in the west, typically either Europe or the US, though most are eventually released in Japan. A full guide to each version can be found here.
