The last time cars and phones came together, only posh Mercedes-Benz owners could afford the clunky piece of communication equipment known as a "car phone." Electronic Arts is bringing the two back together, this time with more-entertaining results.

The software publisher has announced that Need for Speed Most Wanted is coming to mobile phones this fall. In the game, players engage in illegal street racing around the fictional city of Rockport, earning respect, cash, and cars.

The mobile version of the game features a special quick-play mode especially designed for gamers on the move. For more sedentary players, a more in-depth career mode offers a lengthier alternative. There are more than 40 races and several licensed cars and racing modes.

Need for Speed Most Wanted will also be released on the PC, PSP, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, DS, and Game Boy Advance this November.
