TV show Mythbusters is coming back, but with new hosts. This is according to a story today from The Hollywood Reporter, which explains that the new program will air on Science Channel, whose parent company Discovery was the original channel for Mythbusters during its 14-season run.

The key piece of news here is the way in which Mythbusters is coming back. It's reported that Science Channel will run a new reality series titled Search for the Next Mythbusters, which, as it's name suggests, is all about finding people to take over for Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman.

From THR:

"Search will focus on finding an 'all-new generation of myth-busting science superstars with mind-blowing build skills and nerves of steel.' It will involve both social media and stunts as it tests a cast of hopefuls on their skills as they compete in various challenges."

People will be able to submit videos for a chance to appear on the show. 15 people will make the cut and star on the show, taking on challenges like testing previous myths and new ones.

A panel of judges ("consisting of those who have been involved with Mythbusters at some point over the years") will ultimately decide who moves on and who goes home. At the end, there could be one person standing or several who will ultimately host the new show.

It's not known yet if the new version of Mythbusters will follow the same format as the original; this is still to be decided, according to Science Channel director Marc Etkind. We also don't know yet when Search or the next version of Mythbusters will premiere.

In August 2014, Mythbusters made the controversial decision to drop hosts Kari Byron, Grant Imahara, and Tory Belleci. The final episode aired on January 9, 2016.
