Muramasa Rebirth slashes in North America this June

Limited edition featuring customized PS Vita skin and lithograph also on sale; Amazon and GameStop preorders include free soundtrack.

by

The PS Vita version of the Vanillaware-developed action game Muramasa: The Demon Blade finally has a release date for North America: June 25.

Slice up demons in style with the limited edition of the game.

Now called Muramasa Rebirth, the game will ship in both regular and limited editions. The latter version is called the Blessing of Amitabha collector's edition and contains a customized PS Vita face cover, a PS Vita skin, and a PS Vita pouch. The set also contains a high-resolution framed lithograph drawn by series creator and lead designer George Kamitani. Players will need to fork out $60 for the collection.

Amazon and GameStop are currently accepting preorders for both versions of the game. Gamers who do that will get the "Muramasa Rebirth Abridged Soundtrack" music CD, which contains five songs created by composer Hitoshi Sakimoto.

The Wii version of Muramasa: The Demon's Blade was praised for its visuals and boss battles but panned for its lack of depth. For more information, check out the review.

Grabbing this one for two reasons:

1. To support one of the greatest handhelds I've ever had my grubby hands on.

2. This game looks saawwweeeeet.

Its too bad that gamespot has a vita section on the site but doesn't do anything to show up coming games at all...  Hell give me Writer access and I'll start doing it for them for free no less then again it maybe due to my love for the hand held but still its a real shame so little content is added to the vita section of the site.

I definitely love to play this game if I own it. Muramasa: The Demon Blade is quite entertaining.

Between this and Dragon's Crown, I might actually pick up a Vita. No word on a PS3 version I assume?

This was the best game for the wii mainly because it wasn't held back by stupid controller gimmicks.

Since I was fortunate enough to play through the Saturn version of Princess Crown, I found both Odin Sphere and Muramasa disappointing in comparison. They are both really good games regardless and visually astounding, but Princess Crown was absolutely amazing.

Finally... When the Vita's library gets a bit beefy I'll buy it. More games like this please.

I might get the Vita just for this. I received my Momohime statue yesterday!

I'm still holding out on getting a Vita until 2 things happen:

1. I see Sony's game streaming in action on the Vita with PS1, PS2, and PS3 games supported.

2. Sony adds HDMI output to the Vita.

Awesome. Been wanting to play this for a long tine, just because of the beautiful 2-D graphics, and now in HD. I don't have to buy the inferior Wii version now.

Does Rebirth feature anything new since the Wii? Like multiplayer?

First NLKS and now this, am I going to see a pattern here?

Oh well, might buy in the end.

Bought this a week ago. It looks amazing on the Vita. It's perfect for a handheld because the missions aren't very long and they have plenty of save points. Very old school Japanese story with mythical creatures and the likes. A fantastic edition to any vita owners collection.

Vita owners would do well to check this game out, probably one of the finest 2d side scrolling hack'n'slash I have ever played.

Also has a gorgeous art design and likeable characters.

Is it an rpg or a hack and slash?

@spammehardo There were others (NMH 2, Xenoblade) and it's not fair to say motion controls were gimmicky for ALL games which used them. All the main Nintendo titles for example: Zelda SS, Mario Galaxy, Metroid used them quite well and never to a tiring amount.

@00LiteYear Aside from a new localization and four DLC exclusive characters, there's not much. It does look better though.

@ixmardukxi It's both. Though there are only two stats: Strength and Vitality, it's all that's required to forge new swords when leveling up.

Not to mention can your 3ds run on your HDTV as well fanboy? Also for once and for all the vita isn't a ps3 emulator sure the thing can run super crisp looking graphics but it isn't built the same as the ps3 give that pipe dream up already..
