Mortal Kombat: Deception ships millionth unit

Midway's ultraviolent fighter becomes fastest-selling game in the company's history.

Comments

This just in: apparently violence sells. After its first week on the market, Mortal Kombat: Deception, the title in Midway's fighting franchise, has shipped one million units. The bloody fighting title has become the fastest-selling game in Midway's history, eclipsing its antecedent Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.

Mortal Kombat: Deception continues the series' trademark brutality, with plenty of hard-hitting 3D combat and highly controversial fatality moves. The game introduces new game modes, two fatalities per character, and online play for the Xbox and PlayStation 2. A GameCube version is expected in early 2005.
