Monster Hunter 4 ships 3 million copies in Japan
New milestone for role-playing game includes physical copies shipped and digital units sold; series sells 26 million copies to date.
3DS role-playing game Monster Hunter 4 has now shipped 3 million copies in Japan since release in September, a new record for any third-party 3DS game in Japan, Capcom announced today
This figure, up from 2 million during launch week, includes physical copies shipped and digital units sold through the Nintendo eShop.
Capcom announced in May this year that it expected Monster Hunter 4 to sell-through 2.8 million copies by the end of its fiscal year in March 2014.
No North American release information for Monster Hunter 4 has been announced and Capcom has no plans to release the game on PlayStation Vita.
The Monster Hunter series debuted in 2004 and is approaching its tenth anniversary. Capcom said today that growth in sales is continuing, with the entire franchise now surpassing 26 million copies sold to date, as of October 15.
