Capcom has officially announced North American release plans for three versions of a compilation called Mega Man Anniversary Collection.

The console versions will be released for the PlayStation 2 and GameCube. These versions will contain 10 different Mega Man games. The collection dates all the way back to the original Mega Man and goes all the way up to Mega Man 8. In addition, two arcade-only releases will also be included--Mega Man: The Power Battle and Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters. The games will feature new soundtracks. Each version will also have some exclusive content. The GameCube version will contain some hidden artwork to unlock, and the PlayStation 2 version will contain some Mega Man anime.

On the Game Boy Advance, Mega Man Anniversary Collection will compile the five Mega Man games that were released on the Game Boy. You'll be able to play the games as they were originally designed for the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, or you can play them in an all-new colorized mode. The game will also contain a museum mode for artwork viewing.

The PS2 and GameCube versions of Mega Man Anniversary Collection will be available this summer. The GBA counterpart follows up in the fall. We'll have more on this compilation as it becomes available.
