Mega Man 1-6 coming to 3DS eShop

Capcom bringing classic NES games to North America via virtual storefront beginning December 27; Street Fighter X Mega Man out today for free.

Capcom is bringing all six NES Mega Man titles to the 3DS eShop beginning next week with the original on December 27, the company announced today. Mega Man 2 will see release on February 7, with the rest of the bunch arriving in "regular intervals" throughout 2013.

Prices for each Mega Man title were not announced. Mega Man 1-6 previously launched in the 3DS eShop in Japan and Europe.

In other Mega Man news, Capcom's free, 8-bit PC game Street Fighter X Mega Man is now available to download through the company's website.

Developed by Capcom fan Seow Zong Hui, with "direction and support" from the publisher, Street Fighter X Mega Man focuses on Mega Man and boasts eight Street Fighter-themed levels and bosses from the history of the fighting franchise. In addition, Street Fighter X Mega Man features an original soundtrack created by fan Luke Esquivel.

I have the original cart for all of these except the first one.... considering buying the games in the eshop anyway though, in case there's a chance that capcom is going to use sales of these games as an indicator of public interest in new mega man games... :(

Mega Man. Legends. 3.

Mega Man. 11.

Mega Man. X9.

What part of that do you not get Capcom. Iam fine with the ports but a 25th anniversary deserves A NEW GAME.

I might get all of them; I have Mega Man 2 on VC for the Wii. I don't remember Mega Man 3 - 6 and its been a long time since I played Mega Man.

Street Fighter X Mega Man is great fun!  The level design is kinda bad and the music is just remixes of original MM2 and MM3 levels, but hearing HADOUKEN in 8-bit sound fx is undeniably cool and the first time Ryu used his Ultra I was like Ahhh Yeah!

They better stay at the 80-90's. It's time for Capcom to start working on new Mega Man titles, not re-releasing the classics endlessly. Honestly, I loved the 8-bit titles, now I'm just sick of them. It never stops.

I still care to replay Megaman 2&3 to this day...it's hardly even wax-nostalgic---just a solid combination that is fun...and still poses a challenge.  Not to mention,  the music is some of finest chip-tune ever made.

YES!!!! I hope they are bundled for like 15-20 bucks altogether.. That seems reasonable but knowing capcom it will prob be 30 or 40 :/

Though Capcom isn't popular right now, they are sure making the right moves bringing back their retro games. They are better than what they make nowadays.

I have 3DS, but I would rather see these on Vita which I just purchased.  PSN has the Japanese imports but I'd rather have the Mega Man version in the English language.  Regardless of what system it is for, they should be priced for no more than  $3 each.

I just played a little Street Fighter X Megaman. Pretty cool. I wish the games were available on PSN or VC. I don't own a 3ds and don't plan to. At least I have the collection disc for PS2.

I still have my NES copies, but I did buy that PS2 collection as well. Great games.

Nintendo needs to put their entire NES catalogue on 3ds Eshop

for 1-2$ each

Ah so this is Capcom's idea of "more megaman in the future".

So basically your not going to make any more megaman games in the next year or more, all you are going to do is re-release old titles in order to avoid making anything new.

So this what you meant by we are going to see more of the blue bomber in our future.

Ya fuck you capcom.

Hell even Inafune made a remark/jab at capcom in his interview for Soul Sacrifice.Something along the lines that that his old job made him feel like he was sacrificing things and so on.

I can only imagine why.

Long overdue.  The ENTIRE virtual console and WiiWare library should have been available on the 3DS at launch.

Here is something SOME WHAT tangible. We haven't been able to see a good Megaman effort since Inafune's departure. Nor have we seen a new MM game, we still don't got MM in MvC3 or MML3. But we do have an assortment of new releases of NES roms from years passed. This is a step in the right direction Capcom needs to continually let the fans know Megaman isn't dead.

I'm hopeful this may spark a Megaman X HD Collection, Megaman Classic hell I'll even settle for a new game. The time to resurrect the Blue Bomber is NOW.

Should have been on the 3DS store since Day 1.  The lack of VC titles is appalling, almost two years in.

Although Capcom said no, I still have hope MM Legends 1 and 2 could make it to the sony store, and MM 64 to the nintendo store.

I may or may not get these depending on their price. You can get the Complete Works versions of Megaman 1-5 on the PSP with the arranged soundtracks and some other bonus features for about 5.99. If the price is good, I may get these on the 3DS, but otherwise I may just buy these on the PSP. I loved the arranged soundtracks of these games. Especially Mega Man 4 and 5I :) Its good to see these games come to the 3DS, but it raises the question as to where the Game Boy Games are. The NES games are already on numerous formats and can already be bought on the PSP if you want them on the go. I would have rather seen the Game Boy games all come out first since all of those besides MMI have never been rereleased in any form since they came out on the Game Boy.

There 8 bit graphics look intense... I wonder if the Wii U CPU could handle such advanced textures?

@psuedospike Listen to the music again. It's 8-bit street fighter music. I thought the level design was ok for something designed by one fan.

Bangerman15. Well if they are on the eShop they will be $5 each. So bundled it would be $30 if they keep them at full price.

@TheZeroPercent Words of wisdom. I haven't played my 3DS in months due to lack of titles i find appealing. If Nintendo just put all NES,GBC,GBA, and possibly SNES on the eshop they would make a killing, instead all we get is 3 games a week that are meh at best.

yeeea. I have all these games. Mega Man is back! ..   -_-

@TheArcade As long as it has the early megaman x games on the SNES. Most fo the ps1 and ps2 megaman x games are crap.

@ItsEvolution It's really sad when you consider the fact that there are still no GBA, or TG-16 games on the E-Shop.    There have been no new Game Gear games since March, release dates get ignored by Nintendo(Ninja Gaiden), and we get VC titles months after Europe and Japan get them.  I don' understand Nintendo's logic on this.   With their systems and games alone, they could easily sustain putting out 2 to 3 VC games per week.  Add in other systems and third-party developers, and they could have new VC games every week.    Instead, the E-Shop has been nothing but a massive disappointment almost every single week,   Release dates are ignored, systems like the GBA still have not made it onto the service, and it seems like Nintendo's idea of a good download week is a 39.99 3DS retail game, a video and a few demos.   Why can't there be a good mix every week?   The Wii Shop went though a drought of no VC games for months and What's really sad is that the 3DS also went through a mini drought this year.   Keeping in mind, this was a system that was still trying to recover from a bad start and is not even 2 years old.   There is just no excuse for such horrible support for the E-Shop.

Nintendo_Ownes7
Nintendo_Ownes7

That price of $5 is for 3D remasters of NES titles if they aren't 3D Classics then it might be around $2 - $3 each.

They are in Japanese.  Unless you were intimately familiar with the menu in the English version, it is next to impossible to figure out the Japanese menu.  Kind of kills it for me.

Drilbit777

@caryslan2  @ItsEvolution It's a shame, what nintendo really needs to do is start adding the snes and games like donkey kong country, Castlevania 4, earthbound, Yoshi's Island, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 2 and 3( which is really 4 and 6), super mario RPG and alot more.

WolfGrey

@Fembot_Eulogy  @GamespotSux_IKR Oh and the bastardization of the RE franchise with Operation Raccoon City/ RE 6.

One was a terrible attempt at a co-op game and the other could no longer even be considered a horror game.

Which is why RE:Revelations is even coming to consoles. To make up for their terrible games.

Another wordsthey have to resort to bringing out old games because atm they are complete crap?

All you did was say the exact same thing cept nicer.

But no this is to appeal to the megaman fans they pissed off by canceling 3 megaman games, giving their fans the middle finger, lying to them(they originally said they would continue production of MML3 if 100,000 strong hit their target, 100,000 hit their target and capcom gave an excuse and dropped them), and then doing nothing to help the megaman franchise.

Sorry i really suggest not giving capcom any nice thoughts.

Megaman fans aren't the only ones they ticked off.Monster Hunter fans, Street Fighter Fans, and more.

The failure of Operation Cherry Blossom(because despite MHP3rd has in game trophies, they would not add trophy support so Sony said no to a western MH), 100,000 strong being tossed by the wayside, and the blatant on disc DLC of SF X Tekken/nickel and diming of SF did more than enough to tarnish their reputation.

Fembot_Eulogy
Fembot_Eulogy

@WolfGrey  @GamespotSux_IKR Maybe they know that, and that's why they're bringing back their old games? It could be a way of reaching out to their old audience because they know that the newer games don't appeal to them anymore... Just a thought.

caryslan2
caryslan2

@Drilbit777  @ItsEvolution Even better, they could add the Final Fantasy Advance games that were on the GBA.   And that's not even including stuff like the GBA Castlevania games, the Fire Emblem titles, and various other games.   More then Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo has the deepest history in video games.   They have games that cover all the major eras since the third generation.   And yet, they sit around and waste it.   I would gladly pay for the ability to take those games that you listed on the go.   I would pay to have something like the NES Final Fantasy, Castlevania III, Fire Emblem on the go as well.   And we're not alone on this.   Nintendo is sitting on a gold mine of games, and they choose not to take advantage of it.    It's just sad.   Imagine the selling points NIntendo would have by saying the 3DS can play SNES, N64, Genesis, and other classic games on the go?
