Sierra Studios has announced the shipment of Maximum Pool for the Sega Dreamcast. The game features seven classic pool games (eight ball, nine ball, cutthroat, snooker, carom, pocket billiards, and rotation), five uniquely new games, realistic ball physics, and the ability to compete against up to five computer-controlled opponents in the single-player game. Additionally, utilizing the Dreamcast's online multiplayer functions, players can compete directly against PC and Mac players over a network.

"We're extremely excited to be one of the first video games in history to support online play between Dreamcast, Windows, and Macintosh players," said Randy Thompson, senior producer for Dynamix. "With our large Internet community, players can always find someone to challenge online. The Maximum Pool product also shows the flexibility of the SegaNet network and how well designed it is for multiple platforms and a variety of game types."

The game is available for a suggested retail price of US$29.99.
