Electronic Arts has announced that the retail boxed version of its online adventure game Majestic will arrive in stores in early November. The CD version of the game, which is priced at $39.99, will let players register online to play five episodes with no monthly fee. Current subscribers to the online game will not need to purchase the CD and will see no changes in the game.

Majestic features a conspiracy storyline, and it uses an innovative system that contacts players through e-mail, telephone calls, faxes, and other forms of communication. The game was launched online at EA.com in early August.

"The launch taught us a lot about what players want in an online game," said Tom Nichols, director of marketing for EA.com. "Once they get online, they want to get to the game faster and they want to play through each episode without interruption. Those are things that will be incorporated in the CD."

Electronic Arts plans to launch the game's second season in 2002, but players will still be able to access all the elements of the game's first five episodes for the next several months. For more information, take a look at our full review of the game.
