Mad Catz announces GameCube dance game, controller

Mad Catz Interactive today announced that the company will publish its first video game this holiday season. Titled MC Groovz Dance Craze, the game will be the first dance offering for the GameCube platform, and it will come bundled with Mad Catz' Beat Pad controller, which is officially licensed by Nintendo. It's expected to launch later this month.

Featuring 29 songs from artists such as Jessica Simpson, KC and the Sunshine Band, and Jewel, MC Groovz Dance Craze's main mode looks to borrow its gameplay from Konami's popular Dance Dance Revolution series. Another gameplay option, Spin Mode, sends arrows flying out from the center of the screen while the player must step on all eight directional arrows on the Beat Pad controller. The game offers cooperative and competitive two-player modes, as well as a fitness mode with a calorie counter.

The MC Groovz Dance Craze bundle, featuring the game and one Beat Pad, will carry an MSRP of $49.99. It is currently exclusive to the Nintendo GameCube. Additional Beat Pad controllers will retail for $29.99 each. A full track listing is below.
