Luigi is really going to "suck" in the new Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS

Mario's brother to use the Poltergust vacuum in upcoming fighting game to potentially "suck in" enemies.

One of Luigi's moves for the upcoming Wii U and 3DS Super Smash Bros. game will have the younger brother using his "Poltergust" vacuum to trap enemies. That's according to a new image from the game shared by game director Masahiro Sakurai as today's "Pic of the Day."

Sakurai writes, "Luigi might be thinking, 'Who would've thought I'd get to show off the Poltergust in Super Smash Bros.?!' Wondering if it's going to suck something in? Yeah, it probably will."

As you can see in the image, Luigi is outlined by a gold glow that suggests he'll use the Poltergust as his Final Smash move. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii, Luigi's Final Smash was the trippy "Negative Zone" that inflicted damage upon enemies caught in its damage zone.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS is expected to launch sometime in 2014, though Nintendo has not provided a firm release date yet. Luigi's Poltergust vacuum most recently appeared in 2013 3DS game Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

Good. That negative zone was a really lame final smash

One of the few headlines that people apparently have "read." I don't get the whining towards Eddie in this article(I could understand other articles). but there's a picture next to the headline and the word "suck" was in quotation marks implying it means something else. Don't blame eddie for you whiners not noticing these 2 easy to notice things.

Luigi ALWAYS sucks... In everything he's in, and at everything he does.

Using it for his super makes sense.  His super move in the last game had nothing to do with the character.

@VenkmanPHD

You don't seem to know that there is a kind of Eddie-bashing bandwagon here at GameSpot.

It's becoming more like a running gag to me, I would say.

The Negative Zone move made no sense what-so-ever.

I read the headline, read the subtitle, then clicked the article just to see if it was written by Eddie. It was.

About damn time

I've been waiting ever since Mario was given Fludd back when we were still watching Brawl updates.

Though its a shame Negative Zone will be gone, that was an interesting concept but I think its better to give the characters something people will be familiar to affiliate them with.

Luigi's Mansion was actually a really fun game back in the day.

Hopefully he can suck up items to use. It'd be funny if an opponent is going for a pokeball and Luigi sucks it up from a distance.

One question....why hasn't Eddie been fired from Gamespot yet? He uses some of the cheapest journalist tricks I've ever seen...

Wait what it wasn't in Brawl despite the vaccuum debuting on Gamecube? Was Sakurai sleeping or something?

1. Read headline.

2. Click.

3. Read subheader.

4. God damn it, Eddie.

Eddie, the trick to being a good journalist is to get people to read your articles because they know they are going to get a good and informative read....not by baiting them into reading it.

I would really love to see a Project M version of the new Smash Bros.

It didn't inflict damage, it inflicted random negative stat perks. Yeah sometimes it would do damage, other times everyone would fall asleep with flowers on their heads

Talk about a miss headline Eddie! Everyone is just going to think that Luigi sucks in new SSB when the article is actually saying Luigi will be sucking enemies with his Poltergust.

Well anyway, it's nice to hear that Luigi is going to be using his Poltergust in new SSB and to end The Year of Luigi:-(

@samus2005  I strongly disagree as if you know what your doing you can ko everyone that is caught in the negative zone and sometimes even time for more as they drop in after being ko'd. I love it and is by far my fav smash move.

@Thanatos2k

The Negative Zone attack was a physical manifestation of Luigi's pent-up hatred and despair that spanned from living in his brother's shadow  for the past 20+ years.

@stealthyninja81 Yeah if you didn't realize that was about the ghost vacuum, it's not because it's clickbait. It's because much like in outer space, your inner head is a vacuum.

What the hell are you people whining about?

VenkmanPHD

@raydawg2000 How were you "baited"?

WTF else did you expect this article to be about?

The moment you saw "Suck" and luigi, did you HONESTLY think it was about anything else?

That blame is on you if so. Not who wrote the article.

@55584623

... Remember when they replaced Mario's down+special with his useless water-gun?

Something tells me the title may be surprisingly accurate, without pun intended...

raydawg2000
raydawg2000

@VenkmanPHD @raydawg2000  well since the PHD in your name obviously references something other than your level of intelligence I will explain some issues i have with this article.

1) In the main title, "suck" was obviously used out of context.  It was worded and quoted in a way to give the impression whoever was gave this interview is saying Luigi sucks in this game...not the case.

2) In the sub heading he then quotes the person as saying "suck in", which actually appears no where in the article.  In fact the correct quote is "suck something in".  Of course that wouldn't fit with the baiting Eddie is trying to do so he had to change the quote to make it fit.

@raydawg2000 @VenkmanPHD Muahahahaha, master plan has been implemented to impressive effect! All these gullible fools will not be able to resist the juicy bait I have left for them!
