Remember when the Postal Service asked people to decide if they liked the old or young Elvis so the King's face could be included on its next series of stamps? Well, it's happening again, but this time one of the choices has to do with video games.

As of Feb. 17, voting on the official Stampvote web site, for choosing postage stamps to commemorate the '80s, placed video games at the top of the list with 133,942 ballots. In second place, the Berlin Wall comes in with 132,190. And with a week still left in the voting, do you really want to get a stamp of the Berlin Wall? We didn't think so. Like the real Berlin Wall, we need to take it down. If you'd like to help, go to the Stampvote site (or pick up a ballot at your local post office) and look for video games in the lifestyle section.

The open ballet selection is so the public can choose 15 stamps to commemorate the 1980s, and the stamps will start hitting letters nationwide sometime next year. The two selections in each category will pave the way for becoming a stamp and to making sure the post office is listening - games should be a top choice (something has to come of all those quarters we pushed into our favorite titles). Maybe if the vote is strong enough, we can get a whole series of gaming stamps.
