Leaked GTA 5 bug log packed with PC version references - Report

What could the power of PC and DX11 bring to Trevor's eyebrows?

by

A leaked 150-page bug log for Grand Theft Auto V is said to show over 170 references to a PC version of the game, with the mentions beginning way back in June 2012.

PC Gamer scrubbed and analysed the log file, which is said to have been in circulation since last September but was only recently hosted publicly, and temporarily, on a Google Drive account.

Choice excerpts include mentions of DX11 effects and a "lastgen" toggle, alongside instances of PC-specific crashes that require ironing out.

A petition to bring Grand Theft Auto V to PC has now crossed 650,000 signatures.

At this point it's probably worth remembering that every other main Grand Theft Auto game has made it to PC eventually, with the series opting for staggered PC releases since Grand Theft Auto III.

Grand Theft Auto V was released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in September 2013, made $1 billion in three days, and has gone on to sell 29 million copies.

They SAID they'd release a PC version. They never said they wouldn't. Why people are making waves like petitons and such is BEYOND me

Pretty sure it will come to PC, like every other gta games. It's just a matter of time.

With R*'s inept ability to make a proper PC port I think I'll wait 3+ years until the game is on sale for $5 before I jump in.  I'm assuming 150 pages of bugs is the maximum amount allowable for them to consider it a successful port.

That being said, when the game does drop I'll be sure to rip the Los Santos map from it (via a friend's copy of course) and mod it in as an extension of Liberty City's map in the GTAIV engine.

Considering Pc is costly, and hardware. Im pretty sure there not going to leave someone who willing to pay big bucks for a gpu in the dark either, they also know people aint going to buy a shitty ported game for PC

screw PC, gimmie A Wii U version. I don't care if i am the only one who buys it, i want that map in the palm of my hands.

I still would like to believe that GTAV won't be on PC because nobody's paying them to put it on PC. I would love to see a PC version myself, because I'd like to think that the next logical step for Brutal DOOM would be to have a Brutal GTA.

Why do the graphics matter? Is that all pc gamers care about? Like do they even pay attention to the actual game?

I'm still surprised at all of the idiots who thought they weren't gonna put GTA on PC...so impatient...they have been working on it since before the console versions were even released. Geez!

This has been around for months - the p.c version should be announced in feb/march and released around april-june.

i use laptop for emulation (my ps3 is dead so i have no other way to play ps gmaes at the moment), i still prefer console because they have more of the games i like than pc does.

Red Dead is a totally different series. GTA major releases have always come to PC at a later date.

If you think GTA5 has horrid graphics you're everything that is wrong with the gaming industry. Congrats.

I love seeing PC gamers crying and begging for console games, after they spend every day bashing anything that isn't on PC.

Like we didnt know already that it was coming, worst kept secret ever.

I hate all of you who give in to the "war" and care about whether PC or Consoles are better. Neither one works for everyone. Some prefer the ease of consoles (pop in disc and go. Though ps3/4 and Xbone ruin this with installs), some like playing on PC with "better graphics" as if graphics are the only important factor. There's no need to belittle or even care what others prefer. Just care about yourself. Bunch of children.

it will end up on pc, it just takes a year or 2. of course red dead will never end up on pc.

who cares if it comes out on pc or not. it's a terribly boring, poorly written, bad mechanic game. probably the worst gta they have ever made.

I'm happy to ignore console games altogether ;)

Only worth it for Single Player (which is astounding), GTA Online can screw off.

If red dead hasn't found its way yet. There's no way you can expect this on PC too. I love pc gaming, but you should seriously spend on a console. For their exclusives and, of course, games like these.

Rockstar don't care about console gamers. They just want money. They take their time in the pc version (have I mentioned we get Directx 11 features?) The PC version will have fantastic graphics

See it's the console versions that caused the PC bugs. Consoles accept shoddy programming, PC's don't.

@motorxd  Initial Rockstar Club login issues aside Max Payne 3 was a solid port.

"That being said, when the game does drop I'll be sure to rip the Los Santos map from it (via a friend's copy of course) and mod it in as an extension of Liberty City's map in the GTAIV engine."

Yeah I won't hold my breath for that.

Nobody's paying? nVidia, intel, AMD... You think they want to go bankrupt?

It's not about only graphics, more importantly it's the gameplay. Playing on a mouse and keyboard feels much better. Loading times are also faster and added features like modding and video editor.

AuronAXE

It's more about optimization really. GTA IV was unplayable for a lot of people when it came out on PC. Also if they can improve graphics, why not? Obviously gameplay comes first, PC gamers who just ramble about graphics are either trolling or misguided. The important thing is you're playing video games, not the platform you're playing on. Pick whatever you like, I like PC so I stick with it. That's all it is.

game with crappy graphic can be UNPLAYABLE.

Max Payne 3 wasn't a port. It was coded from the ground up and the same will happen for GTA V. Rockstar announced back in 2011 they're doing away with ports and hiring a team to code their latest games for PC.

I followed news in the past. News called "GTA was born on PC and first released on PC with the title of Grand Theft Auto". Seems you weren't aware of it. All the major installments (non-spinoffs) have continued on PC. I can't wait for that summer of 2014 when you will cry because i'm holding my fysical shining brand new GTA5 PC retail release on my hands.

Gotta laugh at you clueless little kids with yer "cool" little fiddle sticks raging everywhere..

Why are you people so clueless, seriously? Oh right, i forgot. You weren't gaming already back in 1998..

@lilmcnessy Strongly disagree about M+K feeling 'much better' - considering how much of the game you spend in vehicles.

I'll take any chance I get to play in my recliner rather than hunched over a keyboard with the equivalent of a giant clunky d-pad for 8 directional movement.

TheAgingGamer
TheAgingGamer

@lilmcnessy I plan to buy it for PC, but with the exception of RTS games and playing FPSs online, I still use a controller. Not trying to start a mouse/keyboard vs. controller controversy, but it's awesome that we have that choice with PC gaming. Also, even without improved textures or models, just some simple post-processing, denser human and automobile traffic, and mods like you mention are nice bonuses to playing on PC.

lilmcnessy

@Elincia64@lilmcnessyI prefer though to drive with the M+K, I have higher precision, plus the mouse has a higher freedom of camera control and easier aiming while driving. I found it almost impossible to drive and shoot and steer at the same time on Xbox.

And I don't sit hunched over my keyboard, i sit back. When I play it on the xbox on the recliner I found I played much much worse, I was too far away from the tv and too relaxed.
