League of Legends Oceanic server opens
League of Legends introduces Oceanic server to the region; transfers to the server free for a limited time.
Riot Games has announced the opening of an Oceanic server for its MOBA game League of Legends. Accompanying the server's open beta launch is a regionalised League of Legends Oceania website.
Players can partake in the Oceanic server beta by transferring over from the NA, LATAM, Russia, Turkey, EUNE, and EUW regions.
Transfers to the Oceanic server are free for a limited time and can be done by claiming a free OCE transfer token in the "other" tab via the in-game store.
Participants who transfer early earn in-game rewards, including the champion Ziggs and a pool party skin, as well as a boost granting double IP and XP until the conclusion of the beta.
A local online tournament has also been announced, scheduled to run July 6-14. Teams who finish in the top four places will compete for a A$40,000 prize pool at PAX Australia. Additional tournament details are available at the Australian Cyber League website.
Riot Games established a Sydney office in February this year. The Australian branch will have staff in marketing, eSports, and community.
